Business and Contract Litigation cases

The majority of Mr. Sorrells' cases are personal injury cases. That is Mr. Sorrells' preference. However, select business litigation cases will be considered, either on an hourly fee basis, or on a contingency fee basis.

Mr. Sorrells stumbled into the world of business litigation by accident. A former law partner was being sued by one of the largest business owners in the North-State area, for about a million dollars. The case was very complex. The evidence filled about 30 bankers boxes, and spanned a time period of more than five years. There were three separate causes of action. Mr. Sorrells defended the case, and the case went to trial. It took more than one month to complete the trial. The jury returned a verdict in favor of Mr. Sorrells' client on all three counts. Since winning that business litigation case in trial, Mr. Sorrells has gone on to represent other business owners, on each occasion garnering excellent results.

It has been Mr. Sorrells' experience that personal injury litigation is some of the most difficult and contentious litigation that exists in the practice of law. Many of the business litigation lawyers Mr. Sorrells has faced seem ill equipped to deal with an attorney who regularly litigates and takes cases to trial.

Mr. Sorrells' hourly fee for business litigation cases is $250 per hour. However, Mr. Sorrells will consider select business litigation cases on a contingent fee basis.

Very few lawyers will represent a business on a contingent fee basis . This can be a huge advantage for the business, as the corporation, partnership, or business owner does not have to pay a large retainer, and is not responsible for paying hourly attorney's fees (They come out of the settlement or verdict). However, only those cases where the liability is reasonably clear, and the value of the case in excess of $35,000, will be accepted on a contingent fee basis.
